Utilize self-help material.

You can use self-help CDs that explain clearly in step-by-step method what you should do to be able to self-hypnotize.  Similarly, you can find plenty of books that explain this method.

Train yourself.

Another way would be to train yourself for it by allowing others to teach you at your own pace.  There are short-term “crash courses” that teach the basics. After learning the core principles, you self-teach.

Practice a lot.

Self-hypnosis requires technique, and techniques require practice prior to mastery.  Have patience with yourself, and give yourself time to perfect the technique before applying it. Be prepared for resistance.

It will take a little time for the self-hypnosis to work, even if you do everything right. Give yourself adequate time before you look for results. There will be a natural level of resistance in your mind that will have to be worn out completely before the self-hypnosis can work.

Practice in the right state of mind and environment.

Take time out for the self-hypnosis session when you are in the right environment – no interruptions, no loud noises, no stress). Make sure you are fully rested and in completely relaxed state of mind and body position before you begin your self-hypnosis session.
